Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat their rivals in the first round matches of Walton Dhaka Premier Cricket League on Thursday.Al-Amin’s six-wicket haul led Abahani Limited to a 212-run win over Cricket Coaching School at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah.
In the other matches of the day, Mohammedan Sporting Club secured a 34-run win over Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club at Shaheed Chandu Stadium, Bogra.Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club had a narrow 16 runs win over Kalabagan Krira Chakra at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi.
Though losing the toss, Abahani were asked to bat first. They posted a modest 248-run target losing all the wickets in 49.4 overs.Abahani Sri Lankan batsman Indika de Saram top scored with 52 runs off 51 deliveries. Bishwant Halder picked up five wickets for CCS.
In reply, CCS was bowled out for just 35 runs, the seventh lowest score in List ‘A’ cricket, in 20.2 overs.Pacer Al-Amin of Abahani took 6 wickets giving only 16 runs in 8 overs. They put 262 run in 49.4 overs losing all wickets.Opener Junaid Siddique scored 95 runs out of 100 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours.Sri Lankan pacer Jehan Mubarak took 5 wickets for Kalabagan giving 33 runs in 9.4 overs.Missing key player Shakib Al Hasan due to a fractured left thumb, Kalabagan KC failed 17 runs short to victory and scored 246 runs from all 50 overs losing 9 wickets.Though the team lost, Jehan Mubarak was awarded the player of the match prize for his excellent bowling.
